Here's to the New Year (and a new video)

Hey Y'all,

Back again and I just wanted to say that 2017 is looking up! I hope each and every one of you had a great holiday season this year. As a special gift, I am happy to announce that my new video for my song "5a" is now up and available! You can find it on this website's "Video" section, as well as on YouTube.

I am also happy to say that along side the video release, two of my very good pals, Kira Grunenberg and Chris Hedden, did fantastic write up's on the new video. Each piece discusses the song's story and the beautiful spot in Central Park where the video was shot. You can find each piece here at their respective blogs:

Sofar Sounds and Tour Thank You's

Hey Y'all

After having just left the road from the "Said & Done" tour, I am so happy to say it was a great success. I cannot thank everyone enough for participating and being apart of it. Special thanks to Schuyler Grant and Will McDonough for hitting the road with me, Kristen Hill and Ellie Pate for organizing everything, Curtis Stith for being a great new pal, and all the folks we met while in the south. Every time I head below the Mason Dixon line I feel as if I am home again. That's all due to the wonderful people I have met along the way. Thank you for making every mile worth while (yes I rhymed that on purpose, no I'm not ashamed).

I also want to say thank you to Sofar Sounds for recording a session with my band and I in New York City. The video (for my song "Someday") has already gathered some great response. If you haven't seen it already, please head over to the YouTube link here and give it a listen (I also do a little dancing too so be on the look out).

August looks to be a quiet month for me as I plan on sitting down to work on my next record. So much has happened in the last few months that I'm happy to finally have the chance to write a few more tunes to share with y'all. Things are already sounding great, so be on the look out for demo versions of the songs on my Instagram page: @StephenBMusic. Stay tuned...I'm excited for the fall y'all (I'm a rhyming machine, I know).

SAID & DONE TOUR Announced!

Hey Y'all,

So I will be hitting the road again this July and will be back down south. There will be shows all over Virginia, North Carolina, and Tenneesse so be sure to swing by if you can. This is my first full trip south in a while, and I may not be back again for a bit, so it will definitely be worth coming out. You can see all the dates on the "Tour" tab or on the image above.

I am also happy to say I will be sharing the road with an excellent musician/bub Schuyler Grant. Be sure to check out his music here

Looking forward to seeing y'all real soon.

Thanks for listening,

Stephen

Spring Into...

Hey Y'all,

The record "Said & Done" is out now. That sentence alone has given me goosebumps every single time I have said it since February 27th. The entire process from start to finish was a growing experience I'll always be lucky to have had. Every up and down made a world of difference to me as both a songwriter, and as a person.

Now that the "North By South" tour is over and we start moving into summer, I have more clarity than I ever had before. So many people and places have been a great inspiration as I begin working on new material. This summer I plan on not just playing music, but also taking time to find who I am (as cliche as that may sound). I've already begun work on so much new material that I can't wait to show y'all. I just wanted to write this post to let you know where my head was at and what I have been up to. Many of you have reached out and said such wonderful things about how my songs have inspired you. I just want to say, your words are what inspire me to continue on this long and winding road as a songwriter.

I'll be around all summer playing up and down the east coast, so be sure to check in on Facebook and Instagram as I share my life with you.

Can't wait to begin this new chapter in my life and I'm happy y'all get to come along for the ride.

Thanks for listening,

Stephen

SAID & DONE IS OUT!

Hey Y'all

So "Said & Done" is finally up and available all over, including iTunes, AmazonGoogle PlayBandcamp and Spotify. I cannot begin to thank everyone who made this album a reality. From all those who donated on Indie GoGo, my family, my friends, and you wonderful fans, y'all made this dream of mine come true.

I want to personally thank Cody Rahn, Mor Mezrich, Alex Minier, Jeff McLaughlin, Andrew Miramonti, Amy Jay, Danny Rose, Justin Colletti, and Ben O'Brien Smith for being apart of the production of this record. You guys have been there since day one, so that just goes to show how much you believed in the music you helped create.

To my family and friends, you have supported me since my first shows in New Hartford, NY all the way up to this past weekend at Rockwood Music Hall. You stood by while I learned how to be a true songwriter. You dusted me off after my defeats and celebrated with me after each win. For that I am forever grateful.

For every single person who has been a fan of my music, I truly thank you. By purchasing my music and coming to shows, you make this all worth while. You make my dreams come true and I'll always love every single one of you for that.

So there it is...it's been "Said & Done" (I had to use the pun I'm sorry). Please go check out the record, share it with a friend, and let me know your thoughts. Be on the look out for more shows in the future, and as always...

Thanks for listening

So The New Record...

Hey y'all,

Radio silence is over. The new record is on its way. I know I have been gone for a few months but now that everything is finalized, the physical copies have been ordered, and the release show is booked...things are about to get interesting.

I want to say a quick thank you to everyone who donated via Indie GoGo or who helped out with this record in any way. I'll be sending out the digital and physical copies of the record soon, so be on the look for an email from your's truly. Also, the official release date announcement is coming within the next week or two, as well as the single release.

I hope y'all had a great holiday season because I think 2016 is going to be one hell of a year.

Thanks for listening,

Stephen

Tour Thank You

Hi Y'all

So "Tour De South" has ended and I have to say, it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I cannot even begin to thank everyone who helped make this tour a reality. All the family and friends that helped us, let us crash on their couch, came to our shows....you made this tour truly amazing.

I spent the weeks leading up to this not knowing what to expect or what would happen. Excited, anxious, nervous, I don't know if I was really prepared for it gave me in return. The tour not only changed the way I look at music, but also at my own life, what I have accomplished, and what I still need to do.

As we reach our summer mid point here, I just want to say there is a lot of music to come. I have a lot to say and I am ready to get things moving. I cannot wait for my new record to finally come out (late fall 2015) and show it to you wonderful people. Stay tuned for more. I promise it'll be worth it.

Thanks for listening

Recording Update #5

Hey Y'all

So the recording process is moving along! Electric guitar has taken longer than expected, but that's only because I want to make sure it is perfect. Jeff McLaughlin has been doing a wonderful job putting his spin on the tracks and I am so excited for you to hear it. His solos are really bright and the guitar fills really combine a lot of style and flow that I think makes these songs pop. Vocals are also all done and sound so wonderful! Big thanks to Amy Jay for her help with the harmonies, and the wonderful Danny Rose at Rose Studios in Brooklyn, NY for his engineering mastery!

This record shows so much growth to me from what I have done in the past. It has caused me to question and learn new things about recording and writing I never knew I could. I feel like I am growing better and better as a musician and as a person on this album.

On another note, I want to announce the tour I am about to go on this July with my friends Brad Goodall and Luca Di Fabio. The "Tour De South" will be all over the southeastern US playing dates listed below (also do note the attached poster image):

7/7 Lexington, KY - Willie's Locally Known
7/8 Nashville, TN - Tin Dog Tavern
7/9 Birmingham, AL - Rogue Tavern
7/10 Atlanta, GA - Little Vinyl Lounge
7/11 Savannah, GA - Sentient Bean
7/12 Winston-Salem, NC -Muddy Creek Cafe
7/13 Raleigh, NC - School Kids Records
7/14 Wilmington, NC - Juggling Gypsy
7/15 Charlotte, NC - Crown Station
7/16 Washington, DC - Gypsy Sally's Vinyl lounge
7/18 Huntington, WV - Blacksheep Burrito's & Brews

I'm so excited everything is all coming together; record, tour, and more. Thanks for being apart of this and be sure to stay tuned for more.

Thanks for listening (as always)

Recording Update #4

Hey Y'all

Back at it again this month! This time the electric guitar and vocals are being tracked! I'm really excited because this is the final "main step", before we add on bells and whistles to the record. Songs are really shaping up well and it looks like the release will be 8 to 9 tracks long.

With the vocals and electric guitar I am really trying to keep that "live" feel that I have at shows, but still give the record a polished exterior. I want you, the listener, to really feel wrapped in the songs without being overcome or swallowed by production. I hope that comes across when it finally gets out to y'all!

Each and every day I get more and more excited for this release. I hope y'all are as ready for it as I am.

By the way, I should announce that the band and I will be playing a show at Rockwood Music Hall, Saturday, May 23rd at 8PM. The address is 196 Allen Street, New York, NY and the Facebook event can be found here

As always...

Recording Update #3

Hey Y'all,

Back again this month with another update for you! The drums and bass are all done on the record and sound really great. I have begun working on guitar parts and it's been a exciting challenge for me. Sitting down with the songs I wrote at various points over the last few years has been so interesting. Some songs still have the same meanings as years ago, but some have completely changed. The people the songs were about have floated in and out of my life too, so it gives a new understanding of what I was originally trying to say (or if it still holds up at all). The process of really diving head first into old (and even new) songs has been insightful and exciting.

I have never been the greatest studio guitar player, I'll admit that . The studio takes away a lot of the random excitement I get from playing live. That being said, I am looking at my time recording guitar for this release as a chance to bring some of that "live show excitement" to things. A chance to bring in that "up and down flow" that makes live music amazing. I want to make this record feel controlled and reckless, quiet and loud, timid and bold, all at the same time.

So there's my little insight for you on what's going on up in my head. Wish me luck as I continue tackling what is my best record yet.

Thanks for listening

-Stephen

Recording Update #2

Hey Y'all,

Another month in the books and so much has happened!

For starters, the show at the Bowery Electric was a super success. Thanks to every single one of you who came out and supported me. I have listed a few photos below for those of you might have missed it (or for those who want to relive the moments)!

As far as upcoming shows, there is a gig this Saturday at 8PM at Rockwood Music Hall, Stage 1. You can see that event on Facebook here.

Also, I am happy to announce my song, "Lines of a Love Song" is a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition! I cannot begin to say how happy I am about this. It really stems from y'all, the fans, making this song so popular and allowing it to get noticed.

Finally, and most important of all, the studio. The drums are officially done and they sound absolutely wonderful. The rhythm was something i really wanted to convey properly on this record, and my friend Cody Rahn has done an outstanding job. Up next is Alex Minier to record some bass. Honestly, excited is an understatement. I promise to keep you informed as more things happen and be sure to check Facebook for more news!
